Information - Choosing the right size Filter & Pump

To choose the right pump size there are several factors to consider.

1 - Determine the volume of your pond;
2 - Account for environmental factors
3 - Determine the flow you want based on your pond's volume
4 - Determine the correct pipe size to move the flow you want;
5 - Determine the water pressure needed to move the desired flow rate through your      system;
6 - Determine the proper pump that will give you the desired flow rate at the required      pressure.

Determining the pond volume
Circular Ponds: Diameter x Diameter X Depth (meters) X 785 = Volume in litres

Rectangular Ponds: Length x Width x Depth (meters) x 1000 = Volume in litres

Odd shaped: Such as Kidney or rounded corners
Average Length x Average Width x Average Depth (meters) x 800 = Volume in litres

Triangular Shaped:
Length x Width x Average Depth (meters) divide by 2 x 1000 = Volume in litres
